Frequently Asked Questions

DO I HAVE TO

BE FILIPINx TO JOIN?

No you don't have to be Filipinx to join! KP is not Filipinx exclusive, so if you are interested, join! There are a lot of members who are also not Filipinx!

IS IT ToO LATE TO JOIN?

It's never too late to join! We welcome anyone to join during anytime of the year, even after AKA!

WHAT DOES KAPATIRANG MEAN?

Kapatirang Pilipino is Tagalog for "Filipino brotherhood/sisterhood"

HOW DO I JOIN?

Come to our upcoming Zoom events and introduce yourself! Make sure to follow our social media platforms down below so you can stay updated!

Why do we use pronouns?

KP is a safe space for everyone. The practice of stating  your pronouns and asking others for theirs promotes inclusivity and avoids anyone from assuming one's gender identity.

Why do we perform

 iSang bagsak?

Isang Bagsak (meaning one down) was a ritual originally done by anti-martial law activists in the Philippines. Now this ritual is done at the end of events to show unity within the community.

why Filipinx/o/a?

The "X" in the term Filipinx is the gender neutral alternative to Filipino and Filipina which is masculine and feminine respectively. We use Filipinx to be inclusive to everyone.

Is this a high commitment

 organization?

Not at all! Don't feel bad if you can't make it to an event. It is all up to you when you want to come out!
